One thing first: Bacteria and other microorganisms are simply part of it. They populate your intestines, your skin, the fertile soil in your garden and many foods in droves. No cleaning routine, no matter how strict, can free you from them - and that is good like this! After all, we need them to stay healthy. So ideally we live in peaceful coexistence with them.
But of course there are also harmful germs and viruses that we would rather not catch. In order to support the immune system in its defence, a few hygiene measures are certainly appropriate. This is especially true for drinking bottles and snackpots, as these naturally come very close to us and allow uninvited guests a shortcut to the oral mucosa.
With FLSK products you have also made a good choice in terms of hygiene, as they are made of high-quality stainless steel, which does not allow germs to attack any surface. Now all you need is a few simple steps to protect yourself from diseases. We show you how to keep FLSK and muki hygienically clean in an effective way.
Sharing with brains and cups
For daily cleaning of CUP, muki and FLSK, it is best to use warm water, a few drops of washing-up liquid and a soft sponge or brush. Deposits inside the FLSK drinking bottle can be removed with our cleaning beads.
Dishwasher? No, thank you.
You should avoid the dishwasher, however, for several reasons: First, it can affect the appearance of our products and, in the case of FLSK, the seal. And second, the bottles and containers often don't get completely clean. Here you can find even more tips on cleaning with the dishwasher.
The all-rounder: disinfect.
Basic cleaning removes residues and other superficial dirt. However, it cannot completely kill any bacteria. That is why disinfection is necessary from time to time. To do this, simply fill the FLSK with water that has just stopped boiling for ten minutes and rinse the outside of the unpainted bottle neck with very hot water. We do not recommend wipes or sprays with chemical disinfectants, because you want to eat or drink from the containers again. However, cleaning tablets from the drugstore, which are actually manufactured for braces or dentures, are possible.
Dry properly.
Drying is an important part of the cleaning process. Viruses and bacteria love moisture and find it difficult to multiply on dry surfaces. So simply rubbing over them with a kitchen towel after rinsing?Stop. Dishtowels are often underestimated germ slingers. They come into contact with food, dishes, kitchen surfaces and our hands every day. Therefore, change the towels at least every other day and use only clean dish towels for your FLSK product.
Use them to dry the containers as well as possible after rinsing and then let them air-dry with the opening facing down so that no water can hold on the inside.
Perfect for this: Drip.it+, the ideal draining aid to dry your FLSK products hygienically. The practical drip rail is simply placed in the sink and bottles and cups are hung upside down to dry in it.
Please store the CUP coffee to go cup, muki snack pot and your FLSK drinking bottle only completely dry in the cupboard.
Don't forget the lid.
Ready? Oh, yes, there was one more thing - the lid! You should not leave it out of all hygiene measures. Contaminants hold up twice as well in its crevices and grooves.
Remove the lid of the CUP, muki and FLSK before cleaning and disassemble it into its individual parts as much as possible. You can also remove the sealing ring of the FLSK for this purpose. This should also be removed and cleaned from time to time. Why? Beverage residue can accumulate under the seal, which can cause bacteria and unpleasant odors.
For cleaning, you can simply boil the ring regularly. In this way, you are sure to kill any bacteria. Please make sure to put the sealing ring back on the lid properly, otherwise the FLSK can not keep tight.
